Srinagar, Oct 30 (KNO): The government on Thursday informed the Legislative Assembly that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the much-awaited flyover from Dalgate to Parimpora is currently being prepared, with essential surveys and investigations already underway.
According to official documents tabled in the Assembly, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said through its Minutes of Meeting dated June 19, 2025, it approved the Action Plan 2025–26 for national highways entrusted to UT governments. “The plan includes 19 projects for J&K, among which the four-lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora junction on NH-1 has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 700 crore,” it added.
Officials from the Public Works (R&B) Department said the topographical survey and geotechnical investigation, including Automatic Traffic Counter and Classifier (ATCC) installations at major intersections, are underway along the 7-km stretch.
“The final alignment, including plan and profile, is under preparation. Once completed, the draft will be submitted to the Ministry for approval. The structural design will then be finalized and forwarded for final sanction before tenders are floated,” the department stated.
The project is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Srinagar city, connecting key urban nodes from the city centre to the outskirts—(KNO)
